About this course

Discipline online should work the way discipline works in the corridor. This free course walks school leadership through the CyberSafeTT disciplinary matrix, a graduated guide to consequences for cyberbullying incidents, from name calling and rumour through threats, extortion, fake profiles, account hacking and offensive religious, racial or political posts, up to matters that must be reported to the TTPS. Education and counselling come first at every level. The course also covers workable forms of online detention, which only function with parental cooperation, and shows how the matrix sits alongside the National Schools Code of Conduct, the Cyber Crime Bill and the Offences Against the Persons Act.

What you'll be able to do

  • Apply a graduated first offence and second offence consequence structure
  • Match infractions to proportionate responses without improvising
  • Design online detention that parents will actually support
  • Know which incidents must be escalated to the TTPS
  • Align school practice with national policy and legislation

I used to accept every follow request. After the workshop I locked down my accounts in one evening and finally understood why it mattered.
