US Visa Social Media Review: What Travellers Should Know
Visa applications now include social-media handles. Here is what is reviewed, and how to prepare honestly.

US visa applicants are asked to list social-media identifiers used over the past five years. Some categories of applicant are asked to set accounts to public during review.
Practical guidance
- List every handle you actually used, omissions are treated far more seriously than posts.
- Review old posts for content that could read as threatening or as intent to overstay.
- Make sure your stated travel purpose and your public activity do not contradict each other.
- Deleting an entire account right before applying can itself look evasive.
- Watch for scam sites offering to 'clean' your profile for a fee, they cannot.
The wider point: your public posting history is now part of your identity documents. Post as if a reviewer will read it, because one might.
