Welcome to Course 4: Password Security & MFA. In a world where our lives revolve around digital connections—from checking your Republic Bank account to messaging family on WhatsApp—your digital "keys" (passwords) have never been more important. Every day, people across Trinidad and Tobago log into online banking, social media, government portals, and shopping apps without giving a second thought to the passwords that protect them. Yet these simple strings of characters are often the only thing standing between a criminal and your money, your identity, and your family's private information. In this course, tailored specifically for the Caribbean and Trinidad & Tobago context, you will learn how to build a rock-solid defense against hackers. We will move beyond simple passwords to high-security passphrases and explore the "Secret Sauce" of cybersecurity: Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). You will also learn about threats that are especially relevant to our region, including SIM swap fraud, WhatsApp hijacking, and the security features built into local banking apps like First Citizens MFirst and RepublicOnline. By the end of this course, you will have the knowledge and the practical tools to protect yourself, your family, and your business—and you will walk away with a complete Password Security Upgrade Checklist to guide you every step of the way.
